With new management and renewed enthusiasm the Team, headed by Coach Jim Love, is more than ready for the Rugby World Cup later this year.

The Ikale Tahi is different to previous regimes in that we have adopted a simple philosophy of picking players on form. Therefore only the best players from around the world have been gathered for the journey.

We believe that we have assembled the best Tongan Team in recent years with players coming from Australia, Japan, England, Wales, France and New Zealand. We also believe that the repecharge system has made the players even more determined and hungrier to emulate other Tongan greats such as Willi ‘O, Jonah Lomu and Toutai Kefu.

The Rugby World Cup will be a unique opportunity for players in our current squad to showcase the talent that we all know is hidden in the islands and in our Polynesian blood.

The Ikale Tahi Tongan Rugby Team will undertake an 8 week tour in June through New Zealand , Australia, Fiji and Samoa to fine-tune the team and its preparation prior to the Rugby World Cup.
